Unbreakable Papier-mache Update

Before

Inspiration picture of original Unbreakable Paper Mache

I got this papier-mache head from a doll collector friend. She has many antique dolls she is focused on dressing and this was one she decided she didn't want to rehab. So I decided to try my hand. It's been hard getting the bumpy texture off - she had seen some crazing and someone just painted over the crazing creating an orange peel texture on her face.

Gessoed...first coat. I've done three so far.

Skin tone over the gesso
and washes in the hair area above.
It's an interesting learning experience.
Not sure what I'll do next.
