Acts of Kindness

If you've read my blog much, you know that I love Izannah Walker dolls. I love them so much that I write a whole blog just about Izannah Walker dolls called the Izannah Walker Chronicles. This past Friday I received an email from R. John Wright generously sharing a picture of an original Izannah Walker doll in their collection. I was so excited! My husband came to see why I was doing a happy dance in the office and gave me a hug when he saw what I was excited about. My younger son inserted himself in the hug as well. My older son, who has autism, looked over and said, "What's going on? Should I be over there, too?" We said yes, and he came over and laid his head on my shoulder and spreads his arms around us. This is from the boy that we have to ask for a hug saying, "Hug me with arms." It's interesting to me that one person's act of kindness led to this wonderful gift. It's so easy to forget that acts of kindness can trigger chain reactions. The picture above is the one I received by email. I will always remember that moment when I see the picture of this particular doll.

What a sweet story! The love of a doll and the kindness of another brought your son to a family group hug, I am sure your heart must have melted! How kind of Mr. Wright, I have always loved his dolls and I also love your dolls, they are great.
The closest I came to holding an original doll was at a doll show, there was a Volland Raggedy Ann Doll which I adore, the owner let me hold her, I was wishing I had brought my camera, the next year I did, hoping the doll would be there and take her picture, but she had been sold!
