Works in Progress and Inspiration at Searsport Rug Hooking

Cloth can be inspiration.
Oh, yes.

Today I went to Searsport Rug Hooking
because I needed (yes, I really did!)
some wonderful already washed and overdyed wool
to make clothing for this boy below,
who is presently wearing orange.

I wrote a previous post
about Searsport Rug Hooking
which you can read here.

We got some lovely blue wool
to use in making him a new suit

My non-dollmaking friend
was having a great time
tucking the dolls into the wool bins.

Here is his tag-along companion above.
Girl or boy? Don't know yet.

And here is a wee dolls in progress...

Fun!

I never thought of bringing my doll into the store for draping purposes....what a fabulous idea! They get draped to death at home, but really, they'd probably enjoy getting out.

The sales clerks at my fabric store typically ask me what I'm doing with the fabric I'm purchasing, and never quite seem to understand what I mean when I tell them. Bringing the doll would be a great visual.

That orange is fabulous, and I love the red on the girl...yes, she told me so.

Beautiful bevy of babies you've got there!

Thanks, Robin. It is really, really fun to take dolls into a store and pick out fabric for them. I do the same thing at home as you - pull out just about every piece of fabric I own in the choosing stage!

Talk about eye candy! Gorgeous wools and your doll is so cute tucked inside.
