Remember these girls above?
Here they are partially painted.
They will still need a lot of work.
The doll on the left is supposed to be a "pretty Izzy" and the doll on the right started off being inspired by the primitive Izannah that is in Helen Nolan's book. At least that's where she started but then she started morphing into a Queen Anne doll. I will focus on making a cloth version of a Queen Anne doll. Her head is sculpted paperclay covered with stockinette.
The Izzy's eyes are way too big
and (ahem) she needs some ears.
The Queen Anne is an Izzy prototype that ended up huge because the head structure underneath was too large. I fixed that, but saved all the bodies generated along the way to make into other kinds of creations.
Since I took these pictures,

Wow Dixie they are beautiful!
I am working with paperclay and have made a few head and shoulders, (my first attempts) but I wouldn't know where to begin with stockinette. It is a heck of a lot of fun making dolls though. Thanks for showing those great pictures.

Tina - the stockinette is like anything, it just takes practice. Deanna Hogan of Blue Heron Dolls has an excellent stockinette tutorial on her blog. I'm on my 7th one and it has definitely gotten easier!
