Seth Godin on Inspiration

Not Seth Godin
My great-great-grandfather Joshua Sargent

If you're an artist, you should read Seth Godin's blog. If you're a business person you should read Seth Godin's blog. If you're married to me (hint, hint) you should read Seth Godin's blog. When I say "Seth Godin" my husband tends to roll his eyes a bit. He calls me a Godinite.

In today's post Seth says

"One approach to innovation and brainstorming is to wait for the muse to appear, to hope that it alights on your shoulder, to be ready to write down whatever comes to you. The other is to seek it out, will it to appear, train it to arrive on time and on command."

It's fun to think about Inspiration as our pet that we can train. Hmmmmm. I wonder what inspiration looks like if it's a trainable pet? I'm going to do a bunch of little thumbnail sketches of what Inspiration might look like when it is trained to show up at my door. Maybe some days it would arrive in a business suit, ready to do business. Maybe other days it would arrive in party attire. And on other days it would arrive with it's IRS suit on. ;-) Or my great-great grandfather.
