Day 19: The Honesty of Handmade

Making something with your hands is a nurturing act. Last night I worked on a creation. The miracle of lumps of cotton spun into thread become flat pieces of cloth. The flat pieces of cloth are shaped and stuffed with cotton. It's a full circle creation. The texture of the cloth, and putting the cotton stuffing in the doll is soothing after a long day.

If you have not read Prudence Fish's blog Antique Houses of Gloucester and Beyond, you are missing some fine writing! I especially enjoyed the posts sharing her grandmother Myra's memoirs of her life.   Lots of handmade in Myra's account!

Thanks for the info on Pru's blog! My daughter Beth is now reading it and loves it! The story of the demolished old house almost brought her to tears.

Thank you, Dixie, for all your help with the technicalities of the blog and now for your wonderful comment. For now my grandmother has stolen the show. But there are a couple of other ancestors waiting in the wings so stay tuned!
