Works in Progress

Graces, Dixie Redmond

I have been doing a few things other than attending little league baseball games. Here are a few of my works in progress...some are at a more finished point than others.

Painting, finished

Big Doll, finished,
smaller Izannah inspired doll in progress

This painting is in progress. The beauty of taking pictures of your work is that you can see what some of the problem areas are. Some areas are too dark, but I like the dark outlines for the ideas in this painting. And I like it simple and chunky, without too much detail. Sometimes looking at a reverse of your image reveals other problems...

Finally, I set up a blog for Harmony Hall, a historic building here in Hampden. Click the picture to go to the blog...

Did I mention that we've been
immersed in Little League Baseball?

I love the "Graces" painting. Makes me wish I kept at painting... I took art classes in high school but once college hit I didn't take anymore classes and I don't have a lot of time now to do any of it. Maybe some day I'll get back into it.

Michelle - when your kids are a little older you'll be able to make a bit of time to do painting. When my youngest was 3 or 4 I would set him up with his own art supplies while I painted. Or I did it when he was napping or at preschool. :-) Get a little sketch book for now and some colored pencils and just play in a doable way.

Dixie,
Your painting is stunning because of it's simplicity and colors. I find the subject matter very moving. This is one of those paintings that would prompt a story. I could also see it being used with children as a prompt in a discussion. I wish you would paint some more pieces, Your one of my favorites:)
