Getting Stronger

Well, I have one doll in time out, and the pictured doll is not at all what I started out to try to make. So I guess I'm living out my last entry into this blog!

Someone suggested I make a chunky Izannah-esque black doll. So I made my own pattern for a chunky doll. I set out to create a soft toddler doll and that is not what I have. I can't really call her an Izannah style doll. But she has a real strength of character.

My thought process when making her was how some people face challenges and crumble, and others face similar challenges and get stronger. Somehow she reminds me of people I know that have gotten stronger. Getting stronger means making choices, and not just letting things happen to you, but changing what you can, accepting what you can't and choosing to live with integrity and joy. It's not always easy, is it?

Anyway, this is the creation I'm working on now. I made arms and legs for her today, and will paint them tomorrow and make her a dress. If you'd like to see all the fabrics I've been trying then visit the picture trail album for her.

After she has her dress, she will hopefully travel on to the place she is meant to be. Someplace where someone appreciates strength. :-)

I like her. I think her face is great!!! You did a very nice job. My Izannah doesn't look that good.

You're right, it's not always easy. Perhaps if it was, then more people would adopt this way of thinking, too!

Wonderful doll! I'm sure that she will be well loved.

Isn't it funny how their personalities take over and sometimes battle with you if you aren't listening. That said I think she will be wonderful! Can we have the picture trail URL again. I wanna see it all!=.
