Before and After

BEFORE...

I'm just beginning to collect some old dolls. Well, actually, I've begun collecting heads. The complete papier-mache dolls I really like are always over $1000, and (ahem) I don't really have the discretionary income to purchase those. Even if I did I might feel a bit guilty, or nervous that they'd get jostled and broken because I live in a house filled with boys.

But I feel no guilt whatsoever about purchasing a repainted but old paper mache head with the intention of repainting it myself....for myself. I purchased the doll head above to repaint - she's obviously been repainted already so there's no problem with me painting her...improving her. Take your fingers and cover up those eyebrows. Doesn't she immediately look better? Her present eyebrows give her a sarcastic expression. She wants so much to be sweet! I'll post the AFTER picture after I receive the doll and repaint her, then I'll make her a body and a sweet dress.

Hi Dixie, I have this doll, and she has a very grumpy expression, so they perhaps wanted to sweeten her a bit?? LOL! Pam PS so fun to see you and your work!

Can't wait to see what you do with her...and you are so right...she does look so much better without those sarcastic eyebrows.
