RIP Little Red

Don't do it, Little Red! Run back home!

Well, my poor little dollie bit the dust. Sometimes I can't leave well enough alone.

If you read some of the very old versions of Little Red, you find that the ending wasn't always happy. Over the years, the character of the woodcutter entered the picture, saving the day. But in some of the early stories, Little Red was eaten by the wolf, and that was that. It was a cautionary tale for young women to avoid wolves.

If you'd like to read see some old Little Red books which have been entered online, go to The Little Red Riding Hood Project. Here they have links to texts and images or you go go here for images only.
