My poor girl has been patiently waiting for her ears. It was helpful for me to crop some closeup shots of original Izannah dolls' ears when thinking about this. Visit the Izannah Walker Chronicles to see pictures of the original dolls' ears. I may have to go back to Izannah Boot Camp for saying this, the ears are not the best part of Izannah's dolls. I decided to choose this ear as an inspiration for my doll.
Here's the one I made below.
Applying them to the doll below.
What's that, dollie?
"Take me to your leader?"
I'm not sure who that is.
So here's the doll with the ear applied and one layer of a base coat paint. It's still wet. Once it's dry I will sand it for a smoother finish. And then I will add some paperclay or modeling paste over the ear to give it a more finished look.

Amazing Dixie, I love watching her take shape.
Thanks, Annie, Christe and Patty! I'm having fun doing this.
Christe' - my husband is the one who encouraged me to be brave and go with the red house. I really wanted to but was going to chicken out and go with something safe. He said, "But won't you always wonder what it would ahve looked like in red?" It's a basic 1980's house with colonial pretensions...but the red somehow makes it feel a bit more special and homey and cottage-like. Plus whenever I go to Edyth O'Neill's blog I see her red cape - it was such a beauty and she has made it live on in the slideshow presentation.
Dixie, I always follow your blog with great interest. The ears picks are awesome. I haven't even begun to think of cloth over the clay part. Can't wait to see her finished. I love the face so far. Penni
Dixie,
I love the simple technique you used to create the ears! I would never have thought of it. Thanks for sharing!
