Day 5: Removing Physical Barriers
to Making Art

Today I will be removing physical barriers to making art.   Primarily the path to my "spooky sewing room".  But also the ironing board in the sewing room.  Because the ironing board is my work surface.

During the summer months I don't get in here as much as I want because my kids are home and that's my focus. In summer I have a tendency to send things down here and just drop them.    This is a hallway pass-through at the bottom of the stairs leading to the laundry area.  For the most part this painting area works fine if I put things away.

Click on the picture to enlarge and you can see some of my labels on things.  This was helpful for me to do.  I take pictures of artwork, too, to help me see what's working and what's not working.  It revealed things I've been keeping for someday but probably need to get rid of.  Or take out of the box (magic art tool).

This cracks me up. I have no doubt it's useful, but if I tried it, I'd be all about making up silly stuff instead of effecting a change. (I wanna know who's shooting stuff into your studio...)

Still with you, Dixie! I have been working on physical barriers too. Re-organized STUFF yesterday and loaded boxes and boxes of things to donate to the local hospice shop in my car. Keep going - you inspire me!! (ahem - tomatohead?)

Tomatohead got put up on the painting table. He's one of the next things. He's not presentable yet.

Now he's on the table....when I took this picture he was leaning against the wall on the right side of the picture.

Hi Dixie,

I organized this summer, I also don't get much done because of kids, but I like to go thru my things, I find things I forgot I had. I love your labels - too funny!!! I still following!
