It's better to
do something imperfectly
than nothing perfectly.

I could shorten this to "Do something imperfectly" but see I would be trying to say it perfectly.  And so it goes...

So true! So many of us are perfectionists, or want to do something perfectly the first time we try, and we let that paralyze us and then we do nothing. If we stick to it and accept the imperfections, we learn and grow and develop new skills and ideas. Perfectionism can kill creativity.
Of course, my daughter is just learning to drive, and she isn't leaving the parking lot until she can manuveur the car! Sometimes we have to stick to our standards, no matter what! Safety first.

Jenn - yes, you're right about there ARE times for doing things "right" - such as driving, surgery, making piecrust...

Me, too, Sarah. :-) I really need to read this every day. A lot of times I don't do things because I can't do them perfectly. And recently it came home to me in a big way. It is a huge hurdle for me painting and making art, and painting my kitchen cabinets...

I think my husband is trying this in our real estate biz...there's a thing he's been afraid to try, (not that he's admitted as much) and lately he's actually geared up to DO something instead of just researching and planning. Imperfect action will definitely get him further than perfect inaction. Thank you for reminding me to cheer him on.
