Day 27: Cooking Day

Here is a fun graphic from 1872 found on The Graphic Fairy's site.  I love, love, love, old graphics.  I collect them, and sometimes even DO something with them.  This graphic illustrates in black and white the importance of friendship and sharing.  It's very expressive.  It might even be Spoonflower worthy.  ;-)

As far as FOCUS today, it's Saturday. Saturday is usually cooking day. But instead of cooking I will be cleaning and organizing my sewing room for a sewing extravaganza this coming week.  :-) The last time I had a  big project to work on we ate a lot of frozen pizza. This time around I want to make more healthy food in large batches, so I can just pull something easily from the freezer. So the crockpot will be a WIN at this time.  If you have any tried and true slow cooker recipes would you share them with me, please?

I'm also going to be checking out A Year of Slow Cooking.

On other fronts, by chance I flung some cheap witch hats onto the chandelier....and it added quite a bit of spooky spark to our house.

I do chicken w/ spagetti sauce in the crockpot. Put in chicken thighs (frozen) w/ sauce, turn on low for about six hours. Noodles are for the hubby (I don't eat them) and quick to boil at the last minute.

This works w/ stew meat (I use roast seasonings) & rice, too.

Thanks, Jan. I want to avoid the weight gain I had on my last very focused project (lots of sitting). I need to walk every hour or two on the treadmill for a few minutes, too! Sewing is wonderful but not exactly a big calorie burner.
