Day 24: Facing the Paper Piles

Having windows replaced in our basement meant I needed to clean out my sewing room for access to the window.

That was a job. The truth of the matter is I'm digging into layers back to 2014 in both my workroom and my sewing room. I had to sort paperwork from some painful times. There's a book by Julie Morganstern called Organizing from the Inside Out which is helpful. She says to look at what is working and try to build on that. But she also says that disorganization can be rooted in painful times you don't want to revisit.

Yeah. It would be great if I could say, "Well, that time is over."  It's not. But it IS better than it was.  There are systemic problems which continue for people who are autistic and need 24-7 support. Finding good caregivers is still a challenge. Two of our caregivers are not available as they were - one moved to go to school and another got a needed full time job. There are challenges with local agencies providing the level of support needed. The ratio of workers to clients in agencies directly affects success for involvement for my son. He attended a program for 5 years which became unavailable last year. So we had to start from scratch again in many ways. And it feels like that is the future story, starting from scratch over and over again. This is hard for someone who loves and needs a schedule, as my son does.

I share this because it is the reason I have been not blogging or creating as much. I look back at my early blog posts which are so hopeful. I used to be more perky. I'm still trying to be hopeful. I keep reading the quote from John Wooden that I use as a life quote, trying to refocus and see each new day as the gift it is. It's a work in progress for sure.

Anyway, in order to keep blogging, and not feel like I am putting up fake ladida posts, I have to acknowledge where we've been, and where we are hoping to go. This requires sorting papers, which are largely reminders of hard times. I'm using the Flylady timer method, and that is helping.  Rome wasn't build in a day, but it was built!

Yep ..... we just have to keep plugging away at it dont we ? Lol ! I get the Flylady emails too . One thing I noticed reading about the time you reorganised your little workspace ,threw out the old desk and brought in the two units you found in a sale ....I was just thinking that you were being very creative at that time , amongst the chaos. Creative energy explosions just happen dont they ? ....when from them are born beautiful creations .... it is wonderful... Creative chaos is o.k ...yawn ..it's too early in the morning ... going back to bed.....6.30am uk ...Debbie x

Good for you, Dixie! You WILL feel better after the purge.
