Packrats of America, Unite!

Shhhhhh. Don't tell my husband.

I've been watching archived clips of Antiques Road Show online. Why shouldn't he know, you ask?

We-ell...

We're cleaning out the office. And let's just say I like to keep things. While we were cleaning out yesterday I acquired a new nickname. You already know about The Roving Consultant. My additional moniker is The Collector.

It's my husband's opinion that Antiques Road Show is to collectors what Valentine's Day is to a Chocoholic. One time we were watching The Antiques Road Show together. In one segment, a retired school janitor comes sweeping in with a polished grin (alright, I'm over-doing this). He shows the appraiser the Dick and Jane Book he had saved from the dumpster back in 1950 or 60 something. It was an oversized book that the teacher would hold when reading to a group of children. When the janitor was told that tucking it behind the antique roadster in his garage had netted him $500, my husband looked at me and said, "Now that just encourages packrats everywhere."

Think of all the packrats in Mesopotamia and how they contributed to what we know about life in ancient times today. AND Packratting has gone UPSCALE, Mr. Man. They're now talking about

But I admit it can be a problem. Last night when I saw the Paula Deen Holidays issue on top of the trash not touching any debris, I did pull it out along with the copy of Downeast Magazine that has the list of Top 10 Maine Pizza Parlors.

I'm just as guilty of bein' both a packrat and an Antiques Road Show junkie. Is there a support group we can join Dix? :> )

Yay, a kindred pack rat, I am so pleased!

I don't want a support group, although I "acknowledge" I have a problem, I enjoy it too much to give it up.

Everyone needs a vice, they say, i guess this is mine!

I love reading your posts, Dix! I think we all could join the support group ... must be something in the water?
