Works in Progress

Sometimes when I'm trying to decide what to do with one creation I start another ;-). The wooden doll is inspired by my banner. The painting in my banner was inspired by a Queen Anne Challenge in Coffee with Tea. Queen Anne dolls are growing on me. I decided that while Miss Wood was in limbo, I would start a small doll.

Up till now I haven't done a lot of small dolls, although I like them a lot. When I made Liddiana and James, a couple artist friends of mine said, "You should make some small dolls." And so I am. I made a pattern with an hourglass figure and attached legs. I intend to add some booted feet onto the ends of these legs, and of course she needs arms. I really like the shape of her. I put a layer of paper clay on, and now she's baking. I'll probably do a couple more layers of clay and bake the doll in between before painting and dressing her. I think she'll be the perfect sized antique inspired doll to sit in the lap of one of my Izannah inspired dolls.
