Our Lives Will Change Forever

For a family that has never had a dog, our lives are soon to change forever. This week the breeder assigned puppies to families, and this is our puppy, who up until now has been called "Miss Lavender." My son said she looks like a street dog, but her fur will get longer and not so much in the standing up style. So now we're thinking up names for the puppy...and I'm walking through the house saying over and over, "See that _____ on the floor? You can't leave that on the floor when we have the puppy."

One of my sister-in-laws has offered to dog-sit for us if we need it. That's nice.

Cute puppy Dixie! The puppy stage is cute, fun and challenging... much like having a new baby in the house ;-) I highly recommend kennel training for potty training. Worked for our dogs!

congratulations.Oh I am so jealous,i love puppies/dogs.
I too did kennel training for our puppies. Not paper training. As far as I'm concerned paper training teaches it is ok to pee in the house.
I also recommend clicker training as a way to teach them to come when you want them to.

Oh, yes! Your lives will have an added dimension by getting a dog (or a cat). Your communication skills will grow as you try to figure out what that pet is trying to say. They are worth every effort, including cleaning up after them.

She's beautiful, Dix! There will never be a dull moment in your household! ( Now don't go dressing her up in dolly dresses...), Becky

Judy J - thanks for the advice. This will be a new venture for us...and I appreciate the experience of other people.
