My great-great grandmother Mary's journal had the following entry for 1918:February 23, Saturday - Mrs. Butman baby birthday. Did not get a chance to send box down. Herbert and Margaret came over in the afternoon. Popped corn. Letter from Hannah and Charlott Ford.
Herbert and Margaret were two of her grandchildren. I have a memory of my grandfather Herbert getting out the new-fangled air popper in the 1970's and calling out in his trademark enthusiastic voice he used with us grandchildren....
"Who wants popcorn?!!?"
