Artisan, artist
Folk art, fine
Which is the path
that I'll call mine?

One day I was driving to visit an antique folk art doll, and on the drive there I was thinking about paths I'm taking as an artist. I made up the ditty above on the drive. I like to sing and write, too.
I have two artists in me - maybe more than two - the one that enjoys folk art craft and then the person who likes to smear the paint around in a fine art way. For the longest time I felt like one negated the other but I'm beginning to realize I might be able to let them both live ;-) Both these paths are mine, and one informs the other. But it would be really interesting to find a way to integrate them. This is a good kind of problem.
Beautiful art tiles can be found at Dovetail Antiques.

Ahhh Dixie I have the same challenge. Like you I love folk art and enjoy the challenge of making fine art. I think there is away to combine them. I have made that one of my artistic goals. Time will tell if it happens.
