Taking a Trip

The last trip we took as a family was when we drove from Maine to Rochester, New York to visit the Strong Museum (er....National Museum of Play) so I could take pictures of the Izannah Walker dolls they had. It was a great trip! The last time we flew on a plane as a family was in 2006 to go to my granddad's 100th birthday celebration.

This time we are heading to Washington, D. C. I am having to remind myself we are not moving, we are vacationing, to cut down on what I pack. If you've gone to DC with kids and have recommendations, please make them. :-)

I'm looking forward to doing a lot of walking.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me such sweet comments! We live right outside DC and I have two kiddos - - so I have to tell you, it is fabulous!! You definately have to do the Smithsonians - - that's obvious, but you also should go to the spy museum AND - - if you are looking for a great way to see all the monuments and memorials with a little fun added in, do the spy mission. Hosted at the spy mueseum, you get a little handheld GPS that gives you clues to solve a "national crisis" - - you have to go to the different monuments around the National Mall (smithsonian area) and gather clues and information. It is a fabulous way to be able to see the monuments and stuff, yet keep the kids motivated to keep walking! You can find more info on their website. Also - check out the Kennedy Center schedule - they have a free concert/play/dance something every day at 6:00 PM It is a great way to let the kids experience something new without having to spend any money!! The zoo is pretty fun - - very hilly but my kids really liked it! OK - - hopefully that helps - - if you have more questions, feel free to ask!!
