Day 11: Momming

One of my kids was sick yesterday and today so Day 11 has been about taking care of  my son and  other things.  I'm not gonna worry that I'm behind.

In between doing household stuff and caring for my son, I read The Thinking Person's Guide to Autism, an outstanding blog about issues dealing with autism.  Right now there is an interesting series going on about parent advocacy and self-advocacy for people who have autism.

I found your blog on the comments of the blog The Thinking Person's Guide to Autism, I really like your blog and art.:) I must say I liked the phrase you put here: "Do not let what you cannot do keep you from doing what you can do."

I do know some blogs written by adults, I have a disorganized list of them on my blog links. Don't know many books, the only books I remember now are The Uncharted Path: My Journey with Late-Diagnosed Autism by Rachel B. Cohen-Rottenberg, it's a biography from a blog author.
Life and Love: Positive Strategies for Autistic Adults by Zosia Zaks, this was for me too advanced, but good for others.
Through the Eyes of Aliens: A Book About Autistic People by Jasmine Lee O'Neill, this includes children too, I don't know if this book helps a parent or caretaker, it helped me.

Hugs, girl. You are right about new beginnings. They are infinite in number, a fact for which I am exceedingly grateful.

Thanks for your suggestions for books, Alicia. It was kind of you to make the effort to come here and post the list. I've ordered Life and Love.

Jan, thanks for the hugs. I could use them.

Hi Dixie,

I've posted a note of support on TPGA under your response to the tumblr post. Please feel heartened. It's a process for all of us.

Cheers,
Rachel in Vermont

P.S. I came here to let you know about my comment on TPGA, and I see that someone else has mentioned my book! Interesting coincidence. :-)

Rachel - we are both in New England. I'll get your book and read it. Thanks for taking the time to post here.
