I saw my first Philadelphia Baby dolls at the October 2010 auction held by Withington's. I went to see the Izannahs they had (three!) but while I was there got to see all kinds of beautiful antique folk art dolls. And there were two Philadelphia Baby dolls there as well. Recently I was able to purchase a very beat up Philly Baby (see below) which I am using as a resource in designing this pattern.
I am working through some of the design issues of creating the pattern while finishing some other dolls. I'll be sharing the journey as I make prototypes. I went over all my work I did for the Izannah Walker Workshop, and it showed me I can do what needs to be done. I am in a learning curve which means making lots of mistakes. But Artis Corwin said my own words back to me - as long as I am learning, they are not mistakes. ;-) Learning is never a mistake.
