Painting Furniture

I bought this antique craftsman style oak table at an auction recently.  I used to own a larger version of this table in my old Arts and Crafts style house. The table above is perfect next to a comfortable chair, with enough tabletop for a lamp, a phone and a spot for s mug.  It is in rough shape, though.

It looks like it had been painted at one time and then stripped. The stains give a clue as to why it had been painted. So now while I continue to paint cabinets I am thinking of what might work for a color and finish on this table.

it is a nice table. I have been considering painting a few things in the house too, but it isn't really in keeping with my new modern look, however plain wood or conventional furniture doesn't look modern either, I have to keep certain very old and favorite pieces that have natural wood finishes, so I don't count those, but I have two dressers that could be painted. It is a hard choice as there are a lot of pretty colors to choose from. It is fun to re do things though and everything will be super white and clean and hopefully not cluttered any more.
