My son graduated from 8th grade the week before last. We weren't sure if he should participate, because waiting in long lines in hot rooms with crowds of people is difficult for a child who has autism. But we decided it was do-able, mainly because his teachers Mrs. Oceipka and Mrs. Mahon went above and beyond the call of duty. They were with him the entire time to make it so he could walk on stage and we could watch with the other parents in the bleachers. After shaking hands with the various Important People he left the stage where Mrs. Mahon received him on the other side of the stage.
