8th Grade Graduation

My son graduated from 8th grade the week before last. We weren't sure if he should participate, because waiting in long lines in hot rooms with crowds of people is difficult for a child who has autism. But we decided it was do-able, mainly because his teachers Mrs. Oceipka and Mrs. Mahon went above and beyond the call of duty. They were with him the entire time to make it so he could walk on stage and we could watch with the other parents in the bleachers.

Mrs. Oceipka waited in a side room with Alex and then brought him over to the nearest door to stand in line when his row was called. That's Alex and Mrs. O. in the doorway behind the big drum.

We were a bit nervous that he was standing directly behind the big drum. But we know Mrs. Oceipka has taught him for 3 years and knows what to do should said drum prove an attraction.

He joins the line to receive his certificate.

After shaking hands with the various Important People he left the stage where Mrs. Mahon received him on the other side of the stage.

All is Well!

Alex, holding his certificate,
with his teacher Mrs. Oceipka.
It was a great evening.
